Local Companies partner up to bring coding bootcamp to Guam
On Saturday, August 5, over 40 participants filled the computer lab at the University of Guam for Coding Bootcamp. Coding Bootcamp is a series of classes throughout the month of August that teach individuals with little to no technical background the fundamentals of coding.
Coding Bootcamp is part of a larger initiative called FreeCodeCamp, which is an international program that teaches coding through programming challenges and project building. Included in the curriculum is building a series of solutions that benefit non-profit organizations while providing enrollees with real-life experience.
Coding Bootcamp was the perfect opportunity to take meaningful action to cultivate the growth of skilled IT professionals on our island while giving back to our local community
Coding Bootcamp is sponsored by DOCOMO PACIFIC, University of Guam, Guam Community College, GTA Teleguam, Triple J Enterprises, Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, Foremost, IT&E, and Pepsi Guam. The next Coding Bootcamp is scheduled for December 2016. Anyone interested in enrolling in the December session should stay tuned to www.facebook.com/groups/free.code.camp.guam for more information.
