DOCOMO PACIFIC is first to launch Mobile 5G in Guam and Saipan

Tamuning, Guam (August 06, 2020) – DOCOMO PACIFIC, regional leader in innovation, telecommunications, & entertainment, is first to launch Mobile 5G in Guam and Saipan.

In March 2019, DOCOMO PACIFIC took innovation on Guam to a new level by being the first telecommunication services provider to offer 5G speeds on-island, along with the unveiling of the DOCOMO 5G Open Lab. The lab continues to be an opportunity which allows companies, including the University of Guam Office of Information Technology, to partner with DOCOMO PACIFIC and test their 5G applications, equipment, and new concepts at no cost. Today, we are truly proud to be the first to offer Mobile 5G in this region of the world.

Mobile 5G will allow customers to experience speeds of up to 250Mbps download and up to 15Mbps upload on their mobile devices. Customers can enjoy this experience on the following 5G Ready devices: LG V50, Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, and the soon to come Samsung Galaxy Note 20. At this time there is no official release date of the 5G capable iPhone 12 series. We are launching our 5G hotspots in phases, beginning with Skinner Plaza and Ypao Beach Park for our Guam customers and Paseo de Marianas for our Saipan customers. 5G is the fifth generation of mobile technology and is the new global wireless standard after the conventional 4G LTE network. 5G is meant to deliver high data speeds, low latency, and more network capacity. Latency is the time it takes from the moment information is sent from a device until it can be used by the receiver.
